Germany's Merkel: Existing lockdown measures will not get us through winter – Reuters

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has told her party colleagues that existing lockdowns in Germany will not be able to get them through the winter, Reuters reported on Monday, citing participants who were present at the meeting.

Earlier in the day, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases reported that there were 12,332 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday and 147 fatalities.

Market reaction

Germany's DAX 30 Index edged lower following these remarks and was last seen losing 0.52% on the day at 13,231.37.
